Another invite from Maria and Sean to join in the fight in the restoration of the magnificent area of tamatea/Dusky Sound in the South Islands incredible Fiordland national park.
A ecosystem restoration involves the entire system.. above as well as below the water. We noticed rubbish on the seafloor in bays we anchor in and play around and have been picking up bits and pieces where the team at pure Salt could. However they felt that that it was no longer enough and they decided to start an annual underwater cleanup as well as raise awareness around biosecurity and the need to think about sustainable fisheries even in such a seemingly abundant place as Fiordland.
The pilot adventure was run in November 2019 in conjunction with Ghost Diving NZ and with the support of the Fiordland Marine Guardians as well as wonderful volunteers and local businesses. Now it’s an annual clean up and this is our latest adventure.
Touch base with Pure Salt to see how you could get involved.
